Over the past few years, there has been a heated debate over whether or not kratom, a physio-active drug, is safe for human use. Unfortunately, with very little clinically known about it, it is hard to fully perceive the drug as harmful or particularly safe for medical use.

While kratom has a substantial amount of health benefits, it is hazardous effects that have medical professionals questioning its safety. One danger associated with kratom is the possibility of addiction. Even being used by to manage opiate withdrawal, there is the risk of the patient getting addicted to kratom itself. Addiction to this substance, like any other addiction can only harm a person's health.

There is also the risk of overdosing. In Southeast Asia, kratom is either take by either chewing its leaves or using them to brew tea. In the West, however, this substances was introduced to the market mostly in form of tablets and pills. In that form, a kratom overdose is easily attained and could ultimately lead to death.

Finally, kratom's interaction with other drugs could have fatal effects on a person. Mixing it with other physio-active substances such as other opioids is very dangerous and is strongly advised against. Interaction with other drugs could have effects such as seizures.

Kratom can be extremely beneficial when used in controlled amounts. Even so, its ability to give off a kind of high makes it susceptible to abuse. The question of its safety is still burning. This has even led to its ban in several Asian countries. The bottom line though, it that the unregulated use of this substance could be undoubtedly chaotic; but that doesn't mean its beneficial side should be completely overlooked.
