Kratom, Mitragyna speciosa, is a medicinal leaf native to Southeast Asia that is in the same family as coffee yet has some psychoactive properties. Historically, the leaves were chewed by workers and manual laborers, often continuously, but it’s use is now banned in these countries.
Kratom’s alkaloids are known to acts on various receptors in the brain, primarily opioid receptors. It is known to prevent withdrawal symptoms in opiate dependent persons and the psychoactive effects of the chemicals will typically fade after a few hours. The popularity of Kratom is seeing an upswing as many are finding out about it’s properties, similar to Salvia, and the realization that Yes – It’s legal (in many places). As with anything herbal, psychoactive, etc. there is a lot to learn and many cautions.
But wait, you’ve come to the “About” page to learn ‘about’ me…. just who’s website/blog is this, anyway? My name is JT Abney and I am just another average consumer (and obvious Kratom lover) who became frustrated with some of the misinformation out there and the online scams. So, I decided to take matters into my own hands and set up a site with some good reviews to cut through the garbage. I am confident that the information on this site will help you to do the same.
